The ever-changing nature of the publishing industry and the challenges faced by print magazines were the focus of an event hosted at the Rapha Cycle Club Spitalfields in London on Tuesday 2nd February, 2016.
As the digital age continues to threaten printed publications, the minds behind Rapha’s Mondial magazine, The Ride Journal and magCulture made an impassioned defence of the art of publishing. Focusing on the inspirations behind each title, the joy of printed materials, and the growth of the cycling magazine genre since the launch of Rouleur more than a decade ago, the discussion offers a fascinating insight into what it takes to produce a magazine in today’s ever-changing market, and the many, and sometimes difficult, decisions you’re faced with along the way.
The panel was chaired by Jeremy Leslie, editor of magCulture, a website and shop dedicated to championing the best in editorial design.
