The Rapha Top Ten for 2010

Date:

2010 promises to be a spectacular and action-packed calendar of road riding, events and products. Here’s what we are looking forward to this coming year.

1. Rapha Women

Our long awaited women’s range launches this March. Finally, female riders will be able to enjoy classic Rapha products with all of the quality, style and features in a perfect fit. Keep an eye out for more info on the website, blog and newsletters.

2. Rapha Yonretto

3. All Kinds of Racing

  • Rapha Condor Sharp are stepping up the pace again this year with an exciting programme of international racing including Battenkill in New York and the Tour of Japan (TBC).
  • The Rapha Condor Club will also be hosting a series of races at Hog Hill in Essex throughout the 2010 season. Join the Club and follow the team as a ‘white stripe’ member for £40.
  • There will also be more grass roots racing in New York City and also a Rapha Condor women’s team competing in London.
  • The camararderie of the Gentleman’s Races returns with more unmarshalled, unsanctioned but distinctly civilized racing. Look out for the UK’s first Gents Race in June.

4. Grand Tours

As it is January it is only natural to be longing for March and the start of the one day Classics. Monuments such as Milan-San Remo and Paris-Roubaix are just around the corner. However, the route of the Giro this year looks to be one of the hardest ever including the feared climbs of Mont Zoncolan and the Mortirolo. We can’t wait. The Tour will be hotly contested this year and should hopefully be as entertaining as 2009, if not more so.

Rapha will also be riding some specially created Grand Tours. The Rapha Randonnée series of expeditions begin this year. Three routes through the Pyrenees, Alps and Appenines will provide a spectacular riding experience.

5. UK Rides

On Sunday 11th April, Rapha will be organizing a Hell of the North ride through North London and Hertfordshire. 28 sectors of lanes, bridleways and the closest to pavé we can find [this means gravel – Ed.] will be the course and the finish will be at a pub to watch the race proper and enjoy free beer and frites.

The first UK Gentleman’s Race will take place this June. The route will be London – Brighton – London. A decent distance and something that you really shouldn’t miss if you are in the south-east of England. Gentlemen’s Caps at the ready.

6. Col du Tourmalet

2010 sees a celebration of a hundred years since the Tourmalet, the highest pass in the Pyrenees, was first featured in the Tour de France. Since 1910 it has been included in the Tour more times than any other climb and Rapha are helping celebrate this with a commemorative jersey and a very unique ride.

The 1910 Ride. Tackling the famous Circle of Death series of Pyrenean Cols – this ride will celebrate 100 years of the Tourmalet. In 1910, Tour riders rode from Luchon to Bayonne crossing the Peyresourde, Aspin, Tourmalet, Soulor and Aubisque. This became known as the Circle of Death. Our ride looks to recreate this epic stage, more details soon.

7. Big year for books

Timm Kolln & Rouleur
Rouleur are in the process of putting together a collection of work from acclaimed cycling photographer, Timm Kolln. Entitled Le Peloton, this will undoubtedly be a superb collection of cycling images.

Great Road Climbs of the Southern Alps
Dream of riding in the southern Alps? The second volume of our beautiful guides covers the Southern Alps and Riviera and launches in late spring.

8. SS10 Range and New Innovations

The upcoming Rapha ranges for 2010 promise to be the best yet with some new and innovative products. Highlights include a new skincare line, updated luggage range, music and collaborations with established designers.

9. Out onto the streets

We will be bringing Rapha to the streets of London, New York and possibly other major cities worldwide this year with a series of pop up brand experiences. This will involve events, exhibitions and exclusive product launches. More details soon.

10. Rapha Continental

Take it to the people: This year the Continental’s unique brand of hard riding and good times will continue to take on the biggest and baddest routes in America. Also look out for the release of a book and film documenting the Continental Adventure so far. Full details released in March.
