The Role

Creative

  • Strategy and vision – Drive the creation of an overall design vision for the collections based on consumer insights and business priorities.

Production Manager

Reporting into the Supply Chain Director, you’ll be responsible for The Production and Inbound Logistics Team. You’ll use your excellent knowledge of the garment trade and understanding of how factories work to ensure suppliers produce to specification and despatch on time. You’ll need to understand our suppliers and their products inside out – from fabrics, zips and stitching methods to predicting any big logistical issues. Quality Manager

Garments, quality and suppliers: These will be your three watchwords. You will have already spent a good few years working worldwide within the garment industry. You’ll understand what makes a supplier tick; when to be tough and when to give them TLC. You’ll spot if they are having challenges on quality even if they don’t tell you.

You will either have set up, or played an integral role in, a Quality Management System for garments. How to take your colleagues and suppliers on the quality journey will be something you relish and they’ll be eager to follow your shining light.

Spending time overseas in factories is something you enjoy. Hopping on a plane at a moment’s notice in a crisis doesn’t faze you. At suppliers you will be used to checking through garments quickly and accurately against the spec. You’ll have excellent judgment knowing when to stand firm on a product not fit for release and when the microscope is being applied too rigorously. If something goes wrong with a product, you’ll know just how to fix it and you’ll be able to minimize Rapha’s losses.

Fabric, zips, trims, seams, buttons, sublimation, knitting, threads, stitching, bonding, AQL, auditing – you’re the expert.

As Rapha grows, so will your responsibility and need to build a team. Reporting directly into the Supply Chain Director, you will play an active role in shaping Rapha’s future. Merchandising Assistant, London

Background

Rapha is a luxury road cycling apparel brand. With 130 products from high-performance cycling clothes to skincare, our supply base grows as fast as our brand. We are a truly global company with only 30% of sales coming in the UK, we currently have five Cycle Clubs in major cities around the world. This number is planned to grow significantly in the near future. As a result we are expanding our Merchandising Team, by recruiting a Merchandising Assistant. This role will report to the Head of Planning, working closely with Web, Retail, Production and Logistics Teams.

The Role

The role of a Merchandiser at Rapha is to analyse how the product is performing in our Cycle Clubs and on our website which delivers to countries across the world. This information is then used to determine what and how much product we should buy. They will make decisions as to which stores a product should be sold in and whether a product is restocked. Some people think that it’s just about working with spreadsheets, but it’s about understanding the numbers to solve problems.

As Merchandising Assistant you will look after the Rapha product range for all of the cycle clubs and website regions, which means that you get to know your product really well and know what sells in each Cycle Club and region. In a Branch Merchandising role, you will look after a geographical location for all products in your stores, which means that you really get to know the customer demographic for the region. You will also help to ensure the presentation of products on the website are delivered to the highest of standards that Rapha expects.

Key tasks / responsibilities:

  • Allocation of stock to Cycle Clubs, website and wholesale channels.
  • Responsible for the loading up of web content, constantly reviewing the site appearance to make improvements.
  • Analyse sales and stocks reports at store and website region level and build stock levels to increase sales.
  • Reporting sales performance, and preparing detailed analysis with recommendations for senior members of the merchandising team.
  • Reviewing goods on order to ensure the supply is meeting demand.
  • Manage relationship with wholesale partners to ensure a smooth process and excellent level of customer service.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of old stock inventory and sales clearance within the company.

The Candidate

A graduate with business, fashion, merchandising or maths-based degree, or strong experience in web or the retail field. Key characteristics will include a logical approach, a dynamic attitude to work, ambitious, driving their own development and the ability to problem solve.

  • Number Literate – a good level of working with numbers is required.
  • Analytical – must be able to analyse data, and use this to make recommendations and take commercial actions.
  • Systems – must be a capable user of Excel.

Sourcing Analyst

Location: Based in London with potential travel in Europe and Asia

Background

Rapha is a luxury road cycling apparel brand. With 130 products from high-performance cycling clothes to Sky fan items and every day city riding outfits and accessories to skincare, our supply base grows as fast as our brand. As a result we are expanding our Supply Chain team, to include a Sourcing Analyst. This role will report to the Sourcing Manager, working closely with Design, Development, Production and Logistics Teams.

Responsibility

Key responsibilities include owning the sourcing commercial data and elements of our new Product Lifecycle Management system, managing the garment costing process and organising the Sourcing reports, while supporting the Sourcing Manager in contract management and supplier negotiations with a view to minimising supply risk and the cost of the garment.

The Role

  • Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system – Own the sourcing elements of the PLM system including configuration of the system, updating data, data cleaning, setting up & running of reports, interfacing with Product Design/Technical Team modules and trouble-shooting technical glitches.
  • Contract coordination – Supporting the Sourcing Manager in the creating of the contracts in a timely and efficient manner. Ensure that all commercial terms are adhered to. Flag to Sourcing Manager contract failures so remedial action can be taken with suppliers.
  • Secondary categories – In time, likely to source secondary categories such as skin care, packaging, labels etc.
  • Commercial Date Set – Day to day coordination of all commercial data set for completeness and accuracy
  • Systems and MI – ensure supplier sourcing data (garment costing, fabric prices, CMT etc.) is readily available and harmonised across our PLM, commercial data sets and Merchandise buy plans. Generation of appropriate and timely reports, ensuring they are credible, digestible and clear when shared with stakeholders.
  • Price analysis – Support Sourcing Manager in intake margin and unit price analysis. Chase quotes from suppliers to ensure they are delivered on time and in full, ready for negotiation. Reconcile agreed prices with POs and invoices and troubleshoot discrepancies with the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Fabric Analysis – Work closely with Sourcing Manager and Design to identify and source appropriate materials and trims for style development, keeping proposed garment country of origin in mind at all times. Assist with creating and updating seasonal materials and trims lists and ensure completeness of the commercial data.
  • Market Research – Research and understand the market and respective supply chain and how it pertains to Rapha

The Candidate

Strong business or a related field and 2-3 years’ experience in production, merchandising, development or a manufacturing environment, preferably in garment industry or related soft goods industry. Key characteristics of a candidate are a passion for garments, an investigative mindset and a hunger to learn.

  • Sourcing expertise – Knowledge of sourcing options preferably related to the apparel, equipment and textile industry. Basic understanding of global trade agreements and trade regulations. Working knowledge of garment and textile manufacturing, garment costing methods, supply planning, factory evaluation techniques and supplier compliance requirements.
  • Systems – Trained in using an ERP/MRP system or even better a PLM system
  • Critical paths – Strong understanding of critical paths
  • Contract management – Exposure in contract management and supplier engagement and supplier negotiations

Temporary Event Staff, UK

Location – events all over the UK, generally on weekends.

Background

Rapha is known for creating and delivering first class cycling events, such as the Super Cross Series and Hell of the North. In 2014 we are looking to build a bench of temporary event staff to assist in all areas of event work.

Events are usually one to three days and the working hours can be long.

Role

We are looking to recruit for two types of role:

Front of House

  • Retail focused: serving customers both from till points, shop floor and events stands
  • Customer facing at races: operating the H-van (serving coffee, race checkpoints)
  • Stewarding rides and races: being a point of information, working sign-on.
  • Riding: guiding organised rides.

Back of House

  • Driving set-up vehicles and our H-van
  • Constructing and breaking down stands and event infrastructure
  • Supporting Front of House staff with stock room management and stock replenishment
  • Stewarding and course set up/route marking.

Key Skills and Experience

European Communications Director, Munich

Asia

Head of Sales and Marketing: Asia-Pacific

Rapha has been present in the Asia-Pacific region for over 5 years, starting with operations in Japan. Investment in the Australian market followed three years ago and for the last 12 months local marketing activity has started in Taiwan, Korea and SE Asian markets. Rapha has a head of sales and marketing and marketing team in Japan, plus marketing managers in Australia and Singapore.

The cycling market is growing rapidly in Asian markets and Rapha is expanding quickly. To manage this growth and drive the business further in the region, the company is now looking to appoint a Head of Sales and Marketing for the entire Asia-Pacific region.

The role

The Head of Sales and Marketing for Asia-Pacific will lead and coordinate all sales and marketing activity and drive business growth in the region.

We have ambitious growth plans for Rapha and believe that Asia-Pacific sales can increase as a proportion of total sales as the overall business grows in the next few years. For this to happen we need to bolster the strategic and commercial management of Rapha operations in the region, pulling the team together under an experienced regional head who can drive brand awareness and customer acquisition and retention.

The Asia-Pac Head will report to the Chief Executive and CMO and is likely to be based in a new Rapha office in Hong Kong or Singapore.
