An introduction to the Rapha Prestige
The Rapha Prestige is not a race; it’s an unsupported, unsanctioned, and unmarshalled adventure across stunning terrain, designed to bring out the camaraderie and suffering of road riding. The rules are simple, and the course is tough. Team members must ride and finish together.
Prepare for approximately 150km and 3,600m of elevation. Expect to be on the bike for between 8-12 hours. Taking place in Nasu Town, Tochigi, Japan, we will seek out the roads less travelled, aiming to be quite remote at times. The surface will be mixed, with sections ranging from perfect black tarmac to rugged gravel. The full route will be revealed, only to confirmed participants, one week before the ride.
Road helmets and drop bars. No TT helmets or TT bars. We’d recommend 25mm tyres for extra resilience against punctures. We strongly recommend teams use wheels with aluminium brake tracks with clincher tyres. Teams must carry their own spares (tubes, tyres, nutrition, etc.) and be completely self-sufficient.
Up to 30 teams of five riders will be confirmed. Teams can be composed of a mix of male and female riders and can contain both RCC and non-RCC members. Two teams will be reserved exclusively for RCC-only member teams. All team selections are at the discretion of Rapha Japan.
JPY ¥22,400 per team plus an after-party contribution of a case of beer. Once your application has been accepted, Rapha Japan will be in touch to collect payment.
The event starts and finishes at Hotel La Foret Nasu(ラフォーレ那須). If you want to stay the day before the Prestige, we have an official event hotel which is welcoming to riders.
Entry to this event closes on August 7th 2016.
