Sourcing, Production and Product Development (SPD) Director, London

Rapha is the leading brand of premium road cycling apparel and accessories. With headquarters in London UK, the business sells products directly to the most discerning road cyclists around the World from its web site, www.rapha.cc, and an expanding retail network currently at 8 Rapha Cycle Clubs. Since its launch in 2004, Rapha has become one of the most desirable cycling brands in the World, widely admired for its high quality products and creative marketing. The business has grown 30-50% year on year and as such has appeared in the UK Fast Track 100 over the past 3 years.
The Rapha range comprises 300+ products across multiple categories, from performance cycling clothes and accessories to skincare, luggage, publishing and travel services. In 2013 Rapha partnered with Team Sky as their official kit supplier. Rapha products are sourced from 40+ manufacturers, primarily in Asia and Europe.

Rapha is looking to appoint a senior executive with 20+ years experience in apparel to add further commercial rigour and efficiency to the sourcing, production and product development functions of the business.

The SPD Director will be responsible for planning, coordinating and controlling the development and manufacture of the Rapha range of products, ensuring that they are produced to exacting quality standards and delivered to customers on time and within profit margin. The candidate will be a key member of the Rapha leadership team.

The Role

  • Perform a key leadership role for the business whilst managing and inspiring the SPD teams and functions to produce and deliver world class quality garments and accessories within required timeframes.
  • Responsible for managing precision and quality whilst not losing sight of margin.
  • Develop and motivate the SPD staff currently comprising 20 people, ensuring an optimal team structure with clear career progression and timely hiring of new roles.
  • Work with internal department Heads to ensure the critical path of product development is streamlined and adhered to whilst ensuring that quality is kept at the forefront.
  • Develop and foster long term strategic supplier partnerships, optimising the supplier base for reliability, capacity, flexibility, quality, delivery and ethical standards.
  • Oversee supplier relationships and ensure that Rapha’s terms and conditions of business are met and product is delivered on time.

The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and qualities:

  • 20+ years experience in apparel with hands on experience of manufacturing.
  • Quality and factory capability focus.
  • Deep knowledge of product development to include garment construction and engineering and production .
  • Appreciation of margin and commercial business drivers.
  • Luxury or technical brand experience or similar where quality and precision is important.
  • Knowledge of the world’s key manufacturing countries and how to find and evaluate new suppliers, sensitivity to differing cultures, customs and business practices and willingness to travel.

Head of Rapha Travel, London

In 2010 Rapha began offering customers cycling trips through a partner and 2 years ago brought the operation in-house. The trips have since expanded to 30 annually of varying difficulty and duration from Randonnées, week-long adventures along classic routes, to the ultimate endurance test of 100 summits in ten days of the Cent Cols Challenge or relaxing at a slower pace of life and indulge on Rapha Retreats. We are looking to hire someone with a strong marketing background to take the travel business to the next level who will grow the travel customer base, further develop the trips to meet customer demand in collaboration with the Operations team and ensure profitability. The role will be based in London

The candidate will be a key member of the Rapha management team, a visible leader of the business and business unit and as such be charismatic, inspiring, confident and assured.

The Role

  • Head up the global travel business, represent the travel business at Rapha management meetings and coordinate support from central services.
  • Ensure the success of the travel business itself plus optimise the value it adds to the wider business.
  • Develop the travel proposition and different travel offerings as part of a coherent range of travel services and continuously innovate and improve the travel offer to reflect the needs of Rapha customers.

Quality Control Expert, London

A permanent position has become available in the Supply Chain team, assisting the Quality Manager and working closely with the Head Office teams ensuring all Rapha products meet quality and safety requirements.

The Role

  • Responsible for conducting inspections on critical products at factories and feedback to the relevant teams. Inspecting products for quality defects, comparing approved shipment samples for colour, labelling, make up, sizing, packaging requirements, and barcodes.
  • Ensure that the garments are being produced to the required quality standards and measured within tolerance as specified on BOM.
  • Sound experience of AQL systems, both in line and final, are required. Setting standards (both pre and during production) and ensuring consistent quality is key.
  • Testing and Product performance levels: ensure suppliers are following our processes with regard to testing, submission of results and dealing with any resulting actions.
  • Competent in writing technical reports. Set up catalogue and maintain up-to-date library of information including: test reports, factory audits, signed supplier manuals.
  • Work with the Customer Service department to follow up with any issues/faults and communicate with suppliers and relevant departments/stores
  • Log returns, performance and complaints data to drive technical improvements and feedback to the business.
  • Promoting quality and performance enhancement. Liaising with colleagues with regards to ideas and changes that can be made to improve the garment.

The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and qualities:

  • Preferably educated to graduate level, but not essential.

  • Product technical knowledge – risk assessment, safety standards and legal requirements.

IT Operations Manager, London

The Role

  • Managing the IT Helpdesk function for Head Office and Cycle Club staff around the world. This is a new capability that will need to be established and managed.

Solutions Architect, London

The Solutions Architect will be leading a new team to manage IT innovation and project initiation within Rapha Technology. Their broad experience in delivering enterprise IT systems will allow them to own the IT vision and roadmap for the existing platforms supporting enterprise, online and stores as well evaluating new additions. The Solutions Architect will enforce the technical standards required by delivery teams and validate investment proposals for all new IT projects.

The Role

  • Building an IT Innovation Organisation that owns the system roadmap and initiates all new projects according to sound architecture and investment principles.

The Role

The Role
The Cycle Club Assistant Manager leads the club team in providing a legendary customer experience whilst through their strategic vision and passion for the brand ensure the store maximises its profitability. Leading the team in the efficient running of the club both front and back of house in order to achieve operational excellence. Strong commercial awareness skills are vital and building relationships with the Regional and Central teams to ensure the clubs continued success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a high performing club team, ensuring the employee experience is in line with brand strategies and drives the customer experience.
  • Develop a customer database to create a community around the club which will create a local loyal customer base.
  • Be the ultimate Rapha Ambassador, seen by others as a role model and Bring to life Rapha’s core values – Passion, Determination, Creativity & Communication.
  • Ensure the store staffing and staff schedules are optimised to match customer traffic flows and operational demands.
  • Drive productivity and profitability by identifying opportunities whilst developing relationships and communicating effectively with Retail Operations and Central teams.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are followed and Profit Protection strategies are adhered to minimise any losses.
  • Provide high value feedback on trading opportunities, when required, to the Retail Operations team.
  • Ensure seamless execution of the legendary Rapha experience and visual standards.
  • Cascade communications to all members of the store team and lead by example when embracing brand messages.
  • Ensure events are managed in partnership with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Through successful recruitment, on-boarding and training create a luxury store environment. Ensure all employees are effectively developed and coached to achieve overall success.
