Beyond the Finish Line – Cycling photography by Philipp Hympendahl and Tim Farin

Philipp Hympendahl is a Düsseldorf-based photographer and renowned for his sophisticated perspective on road racing. Philipp will present a selection of works from his book “Beyond the Finish Line”, an intimate account of modern racing and its protagonists. Tim Farin is an author and journalist from Cologne and contributed the text for “Beyond the Finish Line”.

Magnum Cycling by Guy Andrews

It's no surprise that some of the world's finest photographers have worked in and around a bicycle race at some point in their careers. Cycling provides the perfect subject for reportage, social documentary and street photography because it happens in real time and real life. Images are by a variety of iconic photographers, including Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Capa, Guy Le Querrec and Harry Gruyaert. Author Guy Andrews will present his book and explore with us the joy of racing and the challenges of reportage.
